Capturing the beauty of nature is my passion
American Kestrel (Falco sparverius)
The American Kestrel is North America's smallest falcon. In Texas, I normally find these incredible raptors perched on telephone wires surveying the open fields for prey.
I always get excited when I am able to photograph an American Kestrel in a more natural habitat. The last few photos show how a Kestrel will hover over a field when searching for prey. This obviously takes a lot more energy than to sit on a telephone wire and search for prey. When I spotted this particular Kestrel hovering over a field I couldn't wait to get back and take photos of it hunting.
